A gorgeous set of handmade silver birch wood runes, made from a branch of birch wood that was part of annual wood management down in Cornwall
The runes are about 3 cm in diameter and are handmade and are of the norse elder futhark system (please check photos for scale - penny not included).
This is a set of Elder Futhark Runes -there are 24 runes and one blank rune should an accident befall one or if you follow the more modern tradition of working with a blank rune for wyrd.
Silver Birch is associated with beginnings, cleansings and intiations. Confusingly, the young branches start red-brown (like these runes) before becoming silvery as they mature. Birch is one of the traditional woods for rune making, and I always feel birch runes make a perfect first set for folk who are learning.
You will receive a set similar, but perhaps not identical to that pictured. Your set of runes will arrive in a bag made from upcycled fabric and with a basic information sheet.
