The Wood for this wand came from a willow branch I found in Somerset, in the area surrounding Glastonbury - the Isle of Avalon. I gathered some of the wood for wands, and pendants - like this one
I carved the end into a point, leaving the lovely bark on the handle. Finally it was been treated with local beeswax polish, and will have another coat before it leaves for it's new owner.
It's about 12cm from end to end and comes with a generous length of waxed cotton cord strung with a willow wood bead - and will make an unusual pendant, as well as a small, but perfectly functional wand - ideal for traveling with. It's definitely one of a kind, as are all my wands.
The Willow Tree, is a beautiful tree that likes to grow close to water. Willow associated with the moon, divination, seership, feminine magic and liminality.
The more you wear wood, the more it will pick up the natural oils of your skin and the softer and more beautiful the wood will become. Please do not wear your pendant in the bath or the shower - it won't appreciate a soaking (won't kill it occasionally if you forget, but it won't help either!)
All my wood is sustainable - either gathered after storms or from needed pruning/forestry/tree maintenance.
